Orthodontics

It can be done through transparent dental aligners, which are more discreet and comfortable, or through a traditional solution with the application of braces.

At IDC.Clinic the treatment is rigorously planned, allowing you to define with your orthodontist the most appropriate type of appliance and schedule appointments over time.

  • ✔ Conventional braces

  • ✔ Self-ligating braces

  • ✔ In the case of aligners, comfort and hygiene are facilitated, since the aligners can be removed for each meal and put back in after oral hygiene.

  • ✔ Digital Study and Individualized Case Planning

Through the realization of models, intra and extra-oral photographs and radiological exams in the clinic, a personalized preliminary study of each case is done. This planning allows us to understand what will be necessary to achieve the desired result, the duration of the treatment, as well as the possibility of visualizing the final result in our software.

  • ✔ 1st Appointment for braces / aligners

In the case of conventional or self-ligating braces, the braces and respective archwire are placed. This process is completely painless and aims to move the teeth to the correct position.
In the case of invisible aligners, the attachements (which function like braces in conventional orthodontics) and the first aligner are placed.

The controls are performed in order to adjust the dental appliance progressively to the desired position.
In conventional or self-ligating braces, it is by changing the archwire, brakets and bends.
In invisible aligners it is checked if the current aligner is perfectly adapted according to the treatment plan and the patient is given the next aligners.

  • ✔ Removing the Appliance

When the desired result is achieved it is removed and oral hygiene is performed. At this appointment the retainers are placed, which are intended to maintain the results obtained at the end of the orthodontic correction.
At the end of 6 months the contention control must be done in order to verify the stability and success of the treatment in the long term.

FAQ's

Depending on the position of the wisdom teeth and the tooth movements necessary for the success of the orthodontic treatment, extraction may or may not be essential.
After evaluating each case, the orthodontist will be able to distinguish the cases in which it is necessary to extract the wisdom teeth or not.

An impacted canine is a tooth that lies within the bone and is not able to erupt without the aid of an orthodontic appliance. The external force that is exerted on the tooth in order to move it out of the bone and thus position the tooth correctly in the dental arch is called traction.

The retainers serve to stabilize orthodontic movement, avoiding the “memory effect” that happens when teeth tend to return to their initial position. It is through the proper use of retainers that long-term treatment success is guaranteed.

The invisible appliance is a type of orthodontic appliance made of transparent material that is practically invisible in the patient’s mouth. The treatment with the invisible appliance consists of several aligners and the dental position is gradually corrected through the sequential exchange of aligners that is done throughout the treatment.

You can only drink water while you have your aligners in your mouth. Otherwise you may damage the material and compromise the success of the treatment.

Usually, the aligners are changed every 10 days and each aligner has to be worn at least 20h a day.

The duration of treatment is different depending on each case. After planning your orthodontic case it is possible to predict exactly the total number of aligners and thus calculate the time needed to complete the treatment.
